The Shade Store opened on Columbus Avenue with instantaneous success. And for good reason! Its appearance is deceptive, as this efficiently-designed shop is chock full of samples of blinds and shades of every description that cover the walls, and fabulous drawers filled with samples of fabrics. We're very happy to welcome Maje, the French women's boutique, to join the large family of fabulous designer-clothing shops on Columbus Avenue. Founded by Moroccan-born French Judith Milgrom, the name Maje, founded in 2008, is an acronym made from first letters of her family's names. Their style is feminine and simple, yet original and distinctive. Ms. Milgrom's sister will be opening Sandro, also on Columbus Avenue, later this year. This is their sixth store in New York City.

Columbus Avenue BID Selected for Free Wi-Fi Program

As one of Mayor Bloomberg’s last initiatives as mayor, in conjunction with NYC’s Economic Development Corp., the Columbus Avenue BID was selected to offer free in-store and restaurant Wi-Fi for their customers. We suggest that merchants in the BID who have not yet signed up for this totally free indoor WiFi should take advantage of this opportunity now. By early December, it will be too late, as the project must be installed and completed by December 15th. It's easy to do. Just click the link below to register. A recent article, also linked below, shows how beneficial WiFi can be to shops and restaurants. If you have questions, you can contact our rep from Gowex We2, Joao Deusdado, at jdeusdado@gowex.com. We are planning a second breakfast (to be announced) during which time complete instructions will be offered. The routers will be delivered to those who sign up, and must be installed by December 15 or returned to the company.
