Pedestrian Mall Display by Q Florist

Nick and the guys from Q Florist at 447 Columbus Avenue outdid themselves with this amazing display in the pedestrian mall between the bike lane and cars. Worth a trip to see it, and of course, if you need a florist, they've been in this location for over 40 years.

Thanks to Our Doe Fund Team

Anthony Monroe, center, heads our watering team, surrounded by the others in the team. QZ, who just left for grad school, and Matt, BID assistant, on the right.

A huge thank you is due to our Ready, Willing, & Able team from the Doe Fund. They have been working non-stop getting Columbus Avenue ready for the summer, painting our street furniture and ensuring that our new streetscape between W.76th and W.77th street is watered and well-maintained. You'll also see another Doe Fund team keeping our streets and sidewalks clean, emptying our trash baskets, and removing graffiti (unfortunately a constant chore). They do a great job, and we're grateful to all the men on our teams. Next time you see them, you might want to say thanks for the wonderful work they do. If you see anything wrong in our Columbus Avenue BID area, please call Matt in the office at 212 877-2678

Re-Opening: Ronda Vino & Tapas' Sidewalk Cafe

Last week, Ronda Vino & Tapas finally reopened its sidewalk cafe. The extensive street work that has been ongoing in front of Ronda and the other stores on the east side of Columbus Avenue between W.71st and W.72nd streets is finally concluding after five really difficult months, that totally disrupted walking on the sidewalk on that portion of the block, as well as convoluted shop access and heavy construction all around. To celebrate the reopening of the sidewalk café, as well as to kick-off Brazil 2014 and the World Cup, Joachin Martinez, owner of Ronda, held a Brazilian party with tapas, music, and entertainment. We are so glad they're reopened.
